The Tianquao and Chrissy Chen Neuroscience Research Building
The Tianqiao & Chrissy Chen Neuroscience Research Building (CNRB) elegantly welcomes the visitor onto the campus through the use of its massing, materials, and landscape. The material palette is an expression of nature, giving the building a humanistic scale and texture.
The building's sustainability focus relies on fuel cells for its electrical demand, reuses condensation from the cooling system, and employs airflow induction from chilled beams, natural light, shaded outdoor terraces, and drought-tolerant landscaping to reduce resource demand. In addition, labs are flexibly designed to meet the unknown research needs of tomorrow, maximizing the building's lifespan.
The Chen building has received a number of awards, including:

- 2022 IES Illumination Award — Merit for "meritorious contribution to lighting design"
